Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumCarrying concealed weapons could potentially add more violence to an endless cycle
There was bipartisan support in the Senate, but it is evident that some Senators did not think the issue all the way through. It has been said the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, which in itself, is dangerous thinking. There is nothing that gives any sort of depth to these claims.
If anything, the presence of two people with guns, regardless of moral standing, could potentially cause more violence. If one person pulls a gun on another and multiple citizens with guns are also around, whats to prevent these men or women from shooting each other, or even innocent bystanders?
West Virginia Senators need to take a seat and think about the safety of the public. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin vetoed a similar bill in the past after listening to the safety concerns of law enforcement officials from the state.

Wonder if this writer even realizes this argument has always proven false everywhere it's tried.

(87 posts)No matter how many times this has been asserted (and it's been quite a few times for quite a while now), it just never seems to come true, does it?
Oh well, maybe if they repeat it yet again...

(10,164 posts)...so there should soon be more data to demonstrate whether or not this fear is justified. It hasn't been in the long-running case of Vermont...but Vermont is a demographic outlier. In Alaska, which has had this since 2003, there seems to be little effect in either direction for rates of homicide, assault, rape, etc. In Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Maine, and Wyoming, I think there will need to be more time needed to establish trending...permitless carry is a recent development in these states.
