Burglary Suspect Arrested After Being Shot By Homeowner

OKLAHOMA CITY - An alleged burglar was arrested Friday morning after police say he broke into a residence on the 6500 block of E. Wilshire in Oklahoma City, suffered a gun shot, and fled the scene.

The suspect, 37-year-old Vernon Wyatt, has been charged with burglary in the first degree and assault and battery.

OKC police apprehended Wyatt near Wilshire and Sooner Rd. He was transported to a local hospital and is said to be in stable condition. He will later be taken to the Oklahoma County Jail.

Police say that the homeowner fired one shot and hit Wyatt following a physical struggle. The homeowner received minor injuries.
