Charges: Renton ‘13 hours’ shooter blamed groping stranger

King County prosecutors contend Dane Gallion shot a woman in the shoulder when his gun discharged last Thursday night during a showing of “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.” Gallion, 29, was charged Tuesday with third-degree assault, a felony.

Writing the court, Deputy Prosecutor Margo Martin said Gallion cocked his pistol while taking in the Michael Bay-directed action movie. Investigators claim Gallion said he was cradling his 9 mm pistol because he was afraid of mass violence.

“He could not provide any explanation for why he had put a round in the chamber of his gun,” Martin told the court.

Gallion, a concealed-pistol permit holder, apparently had armed himself with a pistol that didn’t have a safety. Almost all firearms are equipped with safety devices that make it extremely difficult to discharge them accidentally.

This well armed patriot successfully defended the theater from a terrorist attack. Another success for the NRA crowd.

Will this also be explained as an exception?

What do the actions of the shooter have to do with the rest of us, who don't engage in gun violence?

On edit: Or should I post examples of anti-gunners behaving badly, up to and including cold blooded pre-meditated murder, because they reflect on you in whatever way you think this reflects on us?

no safety and no sense.

This incident reflects that any idiot can purchase a gun and receive a permit for concealed carry. Does this mean that you are a senseless idiot? NO. But if this particular idiot had not decided that he had to carry a gun in the theater, there would have been no incident.

So what is your solution to this type of incident? Write it off as an accident? Say, oh well, things happen? And if you, or a family member, were shot by this idiot, what would your reaction be?

"So what is your solution to this type of incident?"

The same as the solution to people potentially not knowing how to drive: Education.

I've been a supporter of universal gun safety training for a very long time.

Whats your solution?

On edit: Do you support universal gun safety training?

No legal ownership without approved training by licensed instructors?

That is an excellent idea.

Now, that might cover this particular situation, but how do we deal with the guns/alcohol situation? An interlock system wherein the gun cannot be fired without breathing into a sensor?

It wouldn't be necessary. Every single person in America would go through firearms safety training in the 12th grade. When I said universal , I meant universal .

Now, that might cover this particular situation, but how do we deal with the guns/alcohol situation?

The same way we deal with people with the cars/alcohol situation. Interlock systems are only demanded of those who prove they have a problem, rather than everyone because there *might* be a problem.

Due process matters, especially where constitutionally protected rights are concerned.
