The tide has turned? 64,000 attend the 2016 S.H.O.T. show
The 2016 Sports, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) industry show closed last week. And, based on the numbers, it doesn't look like they are cowering in fear of new legislation or any major changes in firearm law.
Over 64,000 people from the industry attended during the show's 4 day run, the 2nd highest in the show's 38 year history.
Like the auto shows, this is the show where the manufacturers show the industry wholesalers and retailers all the new stuff; rods, reels, rifles, shotties, handguns, ammunition options, tents, clothing etc. One highlight of the show is "Monday Range Day", when the media and attendees are invited to local Las Vegas area ranges to test drive all the new guns.
We keep getting lectured that "the tide has turned" on gun control and either; "any time now" or "two or three generations from now" guns will no longer be acceptable in society. In the same thread they'll make fun of people saying; "Relax, no one is coming to take your guns" and then down thread; "No more fooling around with small steps, we need forced confiscation now!"
So the tide may be turning "online" and in the minds of a handful of control minded folks, but we're all still waiting for any sign of it in the real world.
