One Dead After Reported Home Invasion, Shooting In OK City

OKLAHOMA CITY - One person is dead following a reported home invasion at an apartment complex on the southwest side of the metro, Monday afternoon.

Officers were called out to the scene at the Almonte apartment complex located in the 5900 block of S. May Ave., to the east of I-44 and just north of SW 59th St., after 12:30 p.m.

Police tell News 9 that two suspects, both men, are believed to be involved in the home invasion. One of the men kicked in the door of an apartment unit and was shot by a person inside. The other suspect then fled the scene on foot and remains at large at this time.

EMSA was called to the scene, but the suspect did not survive. Police have not released the identities of anyone involved in this incident. The case remains under investigation.

Now I know we're all supposed to eschew guns and turn toward Bloomberg country and bow occasionally, but please notice that it's the bad guy, the one who kicked in the door that got shot here. That's right - a gun was used for self-defense against two men who were bound and determined to break in.

Now who is going to be the first to post what a tragedy it is that a gun was used or tsk-tsk the barbaric homeowner?

All the people involved could have been involved in gang activity or drug dealling.

Just like you COULD be involved in online shilling for anti-gun groups.

Since we're speculating wildly and all...

You really think that there is enough info in that news story to make a call beyond a reasonable doubt?

This post by you:

Followed by this post by you:

You really think that there is enough info in that news story to make a call beyond a reasonable doubt?

First you reach to the bottom of the barrel for some mud to sling - an aspersion to cast.

Then you project.

Keep in mind, friend, that between you and me, only one of us has speculated, and made any call about the OP either way. You're the one that is pretending you didn't intend to cast aspersion onto people when by your own admission there isn't "enough info in that news story to make a call beyond a reasonable doubt".

If I were you, I['d start practicing some self awareness. But that's just me...

Wow! You are one self righteous dude!

You don't know the people in the story so why would your care what I speculate about them.

What you are upset about is someone questioning the story because it supports your emotional attachment to guns and you so-called rational justification for that love.

To cast aspersion, just like you did.

What you are upset about is someone questioning the story because it supports your emotional attachment to guns and you so-called rational justification for that love.

Ok doctor spock Studied at the Hoyt school of debate did you?

"Questioning" the story. ROFL. Is that what you call wild ass speculation intended to cast aspersions?

Because where I come from, theres another word for that...

There is a difference between being prepared to deal with a violent attack on one hand (an entirely rational thing; low probability where I happen to live thankfully) and wanting to play vigilante, Rambo or just looking for trouble on the other.

No desire to hurt another person. And to be honest, any material possession I have is not worth the taking of a human (or canine) life for.

However if someone is intending to harm me or my loved ones - and kicking in a door is about as much proof as anyone should need - then terminating their corporeal existence is justified and possibly necessary; but I sure as the hell would feel shitty about it for the rest of my life, no matter how horrible of a person they were.

I view my defensive preparations much as I do my fire insurance policy - really hope to hell they are NEVER needed, because even the best case scenario where they are would be traumatic and horrible for all concerned.
