Mainer who shot intruder sues landlord to keep gun
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) A disabled former lobsterman who shot an intruder after buying a gun to defend himself sued his landlord Monday over a policy that prohibits him from keeping a gun in his subsidized apartment.
Harvey Lembo, who uses a motorized wheelchair, was warned by his property management company that tenants are prohibited from having firearms after he shot an alleged burglar in the shoulder after five break-ins.
The lawsuit was filed in Knox County Superior Court.
"We're interested in ensuring that people in Mr. Lembo's position are able to enjoy their full constitution rights, including their right to lawfully possess a firearm in self-defense," said Patrick Strawbridge, his Boston-based attorney.

Will someone come along and say he should have ran, er... drove out the other door?

3-year-old makes rare recovery after shooting himself in the head
MIAMI When 3-year-old Darnal Mundy II grabbed a gun in his home and accidentally shot himself in the head, his parents thought he wouldnt survive. Today, after weeks of intensive therapy, Darnal is talking, walking and slowly regaining control of the right side of his body.
His bright eyes and curiosity about the world around him are what you would expect from a thriving child his age. But the small wheelchair that holds his body and the scars on his head and face are constant reminders of the morning he nearly lost his life.
One nurse told me shes been here for 18 years. She said shes hardly seen children ever survive a gunshot wound to the head, said Dorphise Jean, Darnals mother.

Do you know that even using the VPC numbers, DGUs outnumber child accidents by a factor >20?
Now we could work on safe storage laws or try to make being a criminal a very safe occupation at the expense of the victims.
Or in your view should the disabled accept being robbed as a simple fact of life?

For every accident, there are thousands of defensive gun uses. Let's show sarisataka some respect and keep the discussion on topic please.
"When I had the gun, I didn't think I was actually going to have to shoot somebody," the 6th grader recalled. "I think it's going to change me a whole lot, knowing that I can hold my head up high and nothing can hurt me anymore."

in Maine, it's sad that the controllers would rather see people needlessly victimized by armed criminals.
