Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumI wonder, will they get it now?
If the past is an indicator, ABSOLUTELY NOT... Odds are they will double down, and when the dust settles, they will wonder "what happened?!" And never once consider, just how out of touch they are.
Is this the turning point® we keep hearing about?! Is this what one looks like?!
Here on another election night, as I scan thru threads, and election results near and far. I cannot help but too wonder how many more lost elections will it take for our party to learn gun control is poison at the polls for the vast majority of the nation? This "national drumbeat" for gun control, only exists in the minds of a "few"true believers, and the mainstream media, so keep pushing it on national tv, day after day, play it nation wide, make certain ALL the voters know your for "common sense" gun control, including random bans, and "Australian style" solutions of "mandatory buybacks"... It damn sure looks like you got the word out. Bloomberg ran ads on TV here in VA constantly, too bad he seems to have simply woke up the opposition.
Having Bloomberg contribute to your campaign almost assures you of electoral defeat? After all, why would an ex-repuke statetist have any interest in supporting a Democratic candidate in the first place?
Think about it.

(3,003 posts)The gun issue is a losing one for Democrats as supporters of it never vote on that issue, while pro-gunners are so passionate about it they'll vote on that issue before any other.

(49,445 posts)It's seen as culture war.
The gun-control side continues to believe that much of what it proposes is both reasonable and effective. To people that are familiar with guns and how they work, however, it's generally seen as a farce. Connecticut's assault weapons ban didn't stop the slaughter at Sandy Hook, for example despite having nearly two decades to work.

What is his reason for trying to destroy my rights here in Virginia? What is he counting on for payback???

(20,992 posts)Bloomberg's puppets are celebrating "victory" (then again given their record maybe it was a victory; wolf in sheep's clothes and all that)
Not unexpected. To see the losses as anything but "success" would require looking at overall strategy. It might require considering if the mass guilt and culture war is not a path to success. Many are far too emotionally involved in an attempt to shame and marginalize a large block of voters to give it up for a better chance at achieving goals.
The irony is if gun control was given a lower profile and focus put on Democratic principles of opportunity and equality, there is a greater chance gun control could be passed.

(6,185 posts)When we lost seats in Colorado it wasn't because of the people not wanting feel good gun laws in place, it was the evil NRA.
It never is and never will be, because gun control is a losing issue to run on for some people.
That would mean a lot of people would have to accept they have been wrong for a long time.
It will always be the Evil NRA's fault, even when they are nowhere to be seen, it's still their fault. They suppress turnout, make it rain or snow, or do something to keep all the "Real Democrats" home on election day.
Oh, and it will always be our personal fault in the Gungeon of course. Not sure how, but, well, GUNZ!!!
This morning I think I heard that as of yesterday there are now 32 GOP Governors? I'm pretty sure the DNC needs some major retooling, election year non withstanding.
Feeling comfy with California, New York, Illinois and some other deep blue states just ain't cuttin' it any more.

None are so blind, as those that REFUSE to see, over, and over, and over, and over again...
