Armed Black Man's Post on Traffic Stop Is Internet Smash

Steven Hildreth Jr. was "a black man wearing a hoodie and strapped"—he was legally carrying a gun—when stopped by a Tucson police officer for a broken headlight. And yet, he and the officer involved were respectful to one another, and both walked away from the incident unscathed, Hildreth writes in a Facebook post that's been shared more than 250,000 times. In it, Hildreth tells the story of how he informed the officer he was carrying a weapon near his wallet, the officer disarmed him as per protocol and checked his ID, and ultimately let him off with a warning to get the headlight fixed.

comment is that POC would have no trouble with (white) cops if only they would "join the brotherhood" and became gun-owners.

Gun owners are not intrinsically violent or racist.

You have taken a step on the path. Keep going

Black man in a hoodie with a legal gun. He obeyed all the existing laws, answered all the policeman's questions honestly, and was let off with a warning re: his burnt out headlight.

But you favor police arresting any black or white men or women that are obeying they law, just because you don't like the laws but are just too lazy to actually do anything about them?

How very, very progressive of you. No wonder gun control efforts suck so bad.

They have a documented history of advocating violence and oppression against legal black gun owners

An AA man assaulted while legally carrying a gun in a store? Here's their response:

A black man jailed even though he has done nothing wrong...

I suppose that is a step up from having his arms broken.

I know I won't get an answer, but I have to try,
why should he have been arrested and spend time in jail?
He was obeying the law.
Your post sounds kinda racist.

Driving with a broken headlight? The only law he was breaking relates to his headlight.
