Gun Control & RKBA

They could have used the term "powerful"here and been correct, NO, they label a potentially 120 year old, 5 shot bolt action rifle a "fetish" item. With all the fear mongering they do over semi-automatic rifles that have ergonomic features, and normal capacity magazines. They flip their lid of a old bolt action gun, that can only hold 5 rounds, that takes a lot of skill and practice to reload those five rounds with ANY speed whatsoever, and is very "uncomfortable" for most folks to shoot.
Out of all the rifles they find "offensive" and demand them to be banned immediately, this is about as pedestrian a firearm as they come.
I sense much desperation with them, they are getting *much* more irrational here as of late for some reason. Bloomberg's check must be late or something.

(23,664 posts)But the only reason the basic 1891 Mosin could be considered a"fetish rifle" is because until recently you could buy one for around a hundred bucks and the ammunition was dirt cheap if you didn't mind steel, non reloadable cases and corrosive Berdan primers.
They're kinda neat old guns, a lot clumsier and more awkward to load than some of the Mausers on the market but built to take abuse.
Obviously whoever wrote the article wasn't very well informed about Mosins.

That makes them easier to find that, say, a Lee Enfield.

Why are the weapons so widely used by insurgents?

But I'd guess the Mosin-Nagant is nowhere near as prevalent as the AK47 family of rifles, or even the SKS.
