The California Supreme Court dismissed review on Wednesday of an important appellate court ruling affecting medical marijuana dispensaries throughout the state. Specifically, the High Court threw out the controversial decision in Pack v. City of Long Beach, which previously held that federal law preempted some forms of dispensary regulations.
The Pack decision has been used by several municipalities, including Los Angeles and Long Beach, to suspend or ban outright the distribution of medical marijuana. However, Wednesday's dismissal of the Pack decision throws into question the viability of such bans.
"This is an important moment for medical marijuana patients in California," said Joe Elford, chief counsel with Americans for Safe Access (ASA), a medical marijuana advocacy organization. "The California Supreme Court has essentially pulled out the rug from under local officials who have used the Pack decision to deny access to medical marijuana for thousands of patients across the state."

(32,324 posts)And the President needs to WAKE UP NOW!
Kamela Harris ran against a very unpopular Republican, for the Office of State Attorney, but her statements indicating how she didn't approve of the legalization efforts cost her nine percent of the vote.
This meant her "sweep" became a recount-the-vote effort, with her squeaking through to a win. And she could have saved herself the trouble (and us tax pay users the expense) by realizing what the voters want in a candidate and offering it up to us.
Obama has not made many people happy in my County
(Lake County ) As a matter of fact, some people voting Democratic ticket in June primaried him!

(32,324 posts)Also his "good buddy" Tim Geithner, who is well known in California for:
1) turning us 37 million citizens down for a requested loan for 20 billion dollars as, according to Geithner, that would "significantly impact the Federal budget deficit"
2) Telling Michelle Bachman, in one of the few ten minute periods of her life when she was making sense, that "your government doesn't have the ability to do" blah blah blah, in terms of setting up a regional state chartered system of state banks to dispense restorative funds to the economy. Bachman was trying to get Geithner to admit where huge amounts of money went during the time period of Autumn 2008 and Spring 2010. Geithner has always been adamant that what the Federal government did in response to the 1980's S & L crisis never happened.
Since Bachman was speaking of the Federal Government of the United States, a logically thinking person would assume that Geithner's response would be "our government." The Freudian slip he made indicates how Geithner sees himself more as "the money person " who manipulates the financial players on the stage of the world economy, and he doesn't consider this to be his country at all.
