Alabama lawmakers approve medical marijuana measure

(Reuters) - A medical marijuana bill unanimously passed both the Alabama House and Senate on Thursday and is headed to the desk of Gov. Robert Bentley, who has said he will sign it into law.

The measure makes it legal to possess only a prescribed medical grade extract known as CBD or cannabidiol, which is non-intoxicating.

Called Carly's Law, the bill in Alabama originated to help control violent seizures suffered by a toddler with a severe neurological disorder.

The girl's family won the backing of Republican state Rep. Mike Ball, sponsor of the bill, and the governor, who has indicated his support.

Maybe the good folks of Alabama will think critically and come to the conclusion that if one strain of the plant has some good to it, other strains might be pretty beneficial as well.

Once they let the cat out of the bag, it's going to be tough to get it back in.

Maybe then, the legislators in the Alabama government will look at the incredible tax dollars that roll in and think to themselves, "golly, it sure would be nice if we could get a few million more in tax money"...
