First week figures for Colorado Marijuana Sales..

Sorry this took so long RainDog, was on the road for a few days.

Ok folks, none of this is official. for official numbers we will have to wait till Feb 20th but they are going to be close to this:

Day 1, 24 stores opened. Stores were open 10am to 7pm. 24 stores, 9 hours, and sales topped 1 million dollars.

By the end of week one 37 stores were open and the total for the first week was around 5 million dollars.

State gets 25% tax which means the state took in 1.25 million in the first week. This is about on par with what they expected, in the range of 70 million a year.. Which says nothing about the savings in cops, courts, judges, lawyers, jails, and the DEA..

The biggest thing was the smooth rollout. Things were so good the opposition was stuck either just making shit up, or sputtering that "something bad is going to happen, eventually, sometime, really, mark my words"...

The shop I went to on day 1 (I didn't even need any weed I just wanted to be there) was right next to a Dunkin Donuts, and the manager told me they had their biggest sales day ever! Of course with 2 hour lines and a bunch of cold hungry stoners I guess it was to be expected.

But I do have many stories from college of making money off of both stoners and drunk people. You don't need to be a great magician or chess player to fool or beat either one, but while the drunks always got upset at forking over their bet, the stoners were all cool about it. Colorado's legalization remind me of those days and got me thinking about needing to move there to open up a stereotypically-stoner-popular munchy establishment.

wow.

I'm glad you got to be there for this historic moment.

I also saw that the projections for new job creation may be low, if this level of interest stays close to where it is now. Preparing edibles... which can probably be transported home much safer than other ways. Just my guess.

I assume to keep you from getting busted for DUI on the way home..

Edibles are still hard to come by. Stores are holding them back to make sure they have enough for the medical patients. I have been on the road for 2 weeks, I'm hoping when I get home they will have adjusted their stock

8. Hemp Flour

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-hemp-flour.htm

It’s far too dense to be used as a baking flour on its own, but when combined with other flours, it brings a nutty, rich flavor and a big nutritional wallop.

Adding the flour to wheat, barley, soy, or other flours in a ratio of one part hemp flour to four parts another flour deepens the texture, resulting in a heavier, chewier bread. It is gluten-free, so hemp flour doesn’t rise on its own. Adding it to baked goods such as bread, muffins, waffles, and the like provides a nice serving of fiber, offers lots of omega essential fatty acids, and increases the digestible protein to boot.

In fact, this flour is second only to soy, with 33% protein to soy’s slightly bigger 35%. It’s a bit easier to digest than soy, however, because of the way those proteins are structured. It also offers antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, and other healthy goodies like zinc and manganese.

Hemp flour may be happily consumed by sufferers of celiac disease or those with gluten intolerance without ill effect. There are actually no food allergies that have been connected to hemp at all. That means it’s also fine for folks with intolerance to nuts, sugar, or other triggers.

I think that was the number. Headline said 32 people died of pot overdoses the first day of sales. Even though this was on the Daily Currant, which is equivalent to The Onion, I bet a lot of right wingers were thrilled to hear it.
George Carlin, years ago, said that the most heinous crime ever recorded as a result of smoking dope was 'theft of roommate's chocolate chip cookies.'

There's no monetary value on the lives that won't be ruined by jail over marijuana.
