The First Amendment Retweeted
A Pennsylvania school district is trying to ban any written expression not created for school purposes.
Assigned report on Abe Lincoln? ✅
Invitation to your birthday party. ❌
That's not only a downer, it's unconstitutional. Here's how
@TheFIREorg
is fighting back.

The proposal bans "any printed, technological or written materials, regardless of form, source, or authorship, that are not prepared as part of the curricular or extracurricular program of the district..."

Alarming proposal would punish K-12 students for any written communication unrelated to class
An outrageous proposal at Pennridge School District would prohibit students from sharing any written expression unrelated to school activities.

(14,464 posts)4. "Guy Montag is a fireman."
From the review of Fahrenheit 451 on Amazon:
Guy Montag is a fireman. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television family. But when he meets an eccentric young neighbor, Clarisse, who introduces him to a past where people didnt live in fear and to a present where one sees the world through the ideas in books instead of the mindless chatter of television, Montag begins to question everything he has ever known.
