Cop Appears To Plant Evidence During Totally Worth-It Traffic Stop

Police department says it "would discourage officers from discarding items into a citizen’s vehicle."

A traffic stop last Wednesday outside Milwaukee in Caledonia, Wisconsin generated controversy on social media after a police officer was captured on video by one of the vehicle’s passengers throwing a baggie into the backseat of the stopped car while searching it.

According to a post on the Village of Caledonia Police Department’s Facebook page attributed to police chief Christopher Bosch, no arrests were made during this incident, and the driver was given a speeding citation for traveling 63 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. However, she and two rear-seat passengers were removed from the car, while the front-seat passenger, a Black man, remained in the vehicle.

In the clip that’s circulating around Twitter captured by the front-seat passenger’s phone, one officer can be seen tossing an object into the back of the car before putting gloves on. The passenger asks “hey bro, what’s that?” The office responds “what’s what?” to which the passenger asks “what you just threw in here? I got you on camera, bro.”

The officer, seemingly unfazed, tells the passenger “I got you on camera, we’re all good.” The passenger turns around and centers the camera on the baggie that the officer had thrown onto the backseat, and the recording ends.

Two questions to ponder:

1. Why was no one arrested for the "planted evidence"?

2. The body cam video of the full incident has been out for days. Why is it not posted here?

CALEDONIA, Wis. (WBAY) - An incident caught on camera involving officers with the Caledonia Police Department during a traffic stop has gone viral after the video was posted on social media, and prompted the department to release body camera footage of the stop.

In the social media post including the 14 second cell phone video clip, it claims an officer with the department planted evidence in a vehicle. Action 2 News has reached out to the person who filmed the incident for permission to use the video clip, but have not heard back as of this publishing. The man’s Facebook page identifies the man who filmed the incident as “La Savoo”, who says he is a music artist from Racine. Police responded to that claim Saturday night by releasing body camera video, which can be found later in this article, as well as in the video above.

Long story short - if you watch the whole video, they find an empty bag on one of the vehicle occupants. The empty bag is handed to another cop who discards it by putting it back in the car they came from.

Kinda funny how the original video keeps being circulated days after the full video was released, and that nobody even bothers to stop and think about the fact that nobody was arrested over the "planted evidence".

What's the theory here? They "planted evidence" in the car and then let the folks go on their way? Are the cops giving out drugs now?

The charges stemmed from traffic stops in 2017 and 2018 in which drivers or passengers were arrested on drug charges including possession of methamphetamine and marijuana."
