(23,103 posts)money and his response was it was an old annuity, (I get the feeling he didn't know about the payments to me and I didn't want to tell him. Mom set it up for me years ago and he has been a prick about a lot of things since he took charge. Knowing him he might have demanded 1/2 of it.

(5,756 posts)My mother had the same type of retirement annuity from an old job and it was set up to pay a monthly amount until death.
Afterwards, they were not contacted by the trustee (my brother) and kept paying into the account I inherited. Once I discovered the problem and contacted the annuity company, they took back all over payments. I had no legal say in the matter.
I wish there was better news.
So sorry for your loss.

Even if you put it under your bed, they would still get it back. Its not up to them to set up payback plans.
