Sheriff puts 'In God We Trust' on patrol cars: 2 million views later, controversy continues

Missouri Sheriff Doug Rader said he thinks now – more than ever - is the time for Americans to remember the motto "In God We Trust." ... That's why he put the phrase on decals on the back of {county} patrol cars, a move that set off a wave of controversy.

It all started with Rader posted a photo of the cars with the decals on his Facebook page, along with the words, "There has been no better time than now to proudly display our National Motto!" The post has been seen by more than 2 million people, many who whom have praised Rader's decision.

Not everyone is happy with the move, however. ... "You want tyranny of the majority go to Iran or someplace like it. America was founded as a secular nation. Believe what you want but don't push whatever god you believe in on the public," commenter Bill Dunn said.

Rader, who said the decals were donated by a business and no taxpayer money was used, acknowledged not everyone agreed with his decision. ... "A lot of negativity is coming from people outside the state," he said, but added the words are "part of our heritage. It is patriotic."

What do you think? "In God We Trust" is already on government buildings and money. What do you think about the sheriff adding it to county vehicles?

First used on paper money in 1957
First used on coins in 1864

Adopted as motto in 1956

My question is: How can these people state that this country was blessed by god??
