Today in Peace and Justice history on August 12, 1982

Twelve were arrested in an attempted blockade of the first Trident submarine, the USS Ohio, entering the Hood Canal in Washington. In motorboats, sailboats and small handmade wooden vessels, the demonstrators were objecting to the presence of nuclear weapons in Seattle. The Coast Guard overturned some of the vessels with water cannon.
