On this day, January 15, 2009, Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger ditched his Airbus 320 in the Hudson River.

I had just started a new job. The initial reports made me think the worst. Then things got better, a lot better.

In 2009, US Airways Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger ditched his Airbus 320 in the Hudson River after a flock of birds disabled both engines; all 155 people aboard survived, and more events that happened on this day in history.

And the rest of the crew too-- saved every passenger. I'll never forget that pic of all of them standing on the wings.

Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.
A great landing is one where they can use the plane again.
