On this day, December 4, 1858, Chester Greenwood, inventor of the earmuff, was born.

They can't all be earth-shattering.

A reply to 2022's post said that his birthday is celebrated in Farmington, Maine. This was reaffirmed in 2025. So here we are.

Inventor Chester Greenwood was #BornOnThisDay, Dec. 4, 1858. Invented the earmuff (1873) age (15), patented a tea kettle, variation of the steel-toothed rake, an advertising matchbox + many other items & was a supporter of woman suffrage. Passed in 1937 (age 78) #RIP #BOTD #hunk
