Today in Peace and Justice history on February 7, 1926

"Negro History Week" was observed for the first time, conceived by Dr. Carter G. Woodson as an opportunity to study the history and accomplishments of African Americans. Dr. Woodson was the founder, in 1915 Chicago, of the Assoc for the Study of Negro Life and History.
