Michael Beschloss was wrong. Those aren't words you'll see often. So was I. Those are words that are true more often than I'd prefer to have happen.
The wreath laying did not occur on January 8th, but a week earlier, on New Year's Day. On the 7th, 8th, and 9th, Roosevelt was in Hyde Park, NY. Eleanor was in DC.
Beschloss has surely corrected that tweet by now, but I don't have access to Twitter and so cannot find the latest one.

New Year's Day was a Thursday. Roosevelt and Churchill started the day by attending services at Christ Church in Alexandria in observance of the National Day of Prayer.
