On September 20, 1973, Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs played tennis on TV.

Fifty years ago today:

Women's Wimbledon champion Billy Jean King beats former men's Wimbledon champion Bobby Riggs in a hyped match in the Astrodome

The event drew a worldwide TV audience of 90 million and the crowd of 30,472 remains the biggest to see a match in the US

And it truly changed the face of Women's tennis forever. I was always a Billie Jean fan anyway. A world class player if there ever was one.
