All these years I thought Eddie Rickenbacker served in World War II.

Just finished a bio of him, ENDURING COURAGE. he was a world war one flying ace and also a racecar driver before World War I.

He wasn’t in the military service when the plane he was in went down in the Pacific in 42. He was touring some bases and going to deliver a message to General MacArthur. He and other men were in rafts in the Pacific for about three weeks before they were rescued.
