Political Correctness?

If Mexico loses a war and wants to complain that the U.S. stole Texas, then they are accused of trying to rewrite history and of political correctness.

If the Native American Indian loses a war and wants to complain of atrocities like the Trail of Tears and Wounded Knee, then they are accused of try to rewrite history and of political correctness.

If the Japanese lose a war and want to complain about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then they are accused of trying to rewrite history and of political correctness.

If the South loses a war and you don't allow them to rewrite history, then you get accused of political correctness.

2. Their use of the term "political correctness" is itself a rewrite of history

Originally it was meant to be used only within the liberal community. Liberals trying to get other liberals to walk the talk. If you claim to believe in something, then act that way, live it, talk that way, don't just claim you have a liberal position.

E.g., if you claim your view is that women should be treated equally, then don't call grown women "girls" or other demeaning terms. But this was admonishing *liberals*. Political correctness said *nothing* about how right-wingers should behave.

Just think about the term, political "correctness". If you believe women should be treated as second class citizens, then there's nothing "incorrect" about calling them "girls". It's entirely consistent with your views, if those are your views.

But of course, right-wingers love lying and twisting and rewriting history, especially if it helps make them look like martyrs. Oh those horrible liberals talking amongst themselves! We listened in uninvited and now we feel like they're telling us how to act and behave and talk even though they weren't talking to us! What about our freedom!

My whole point was to show how the right is inconsistent in how it applied the term and the complaints that it made about it, turning it into an all purpose attack on all liberals and progressives. Hope that helps.
