Related: About this forumMy sweet Bridget is leaving me tomorrow
I knew this day would come, but I hoped I'd have another week or so with her. However, I got a call from the foster coordinator asking me to bring her in. Since she's going for her spay surgery tomorrow, I'll take her and they'll pick her up. I'll miss her so much! She's such a sweet baby, so affectionate and playful, but she needs a permanent home, and I can't be that for her. It's time.

(26,158 posts)That's what happened to my sweet Baby Girl, I had a final day with her and then it was good bye.
I am sorry you're losing a foster you've have become attached to. As I'm sure you know that is frequently what happens, thus "Foster Fails". Enjoy your last day with her. Lots of hugs.

(11,417 posts)Most of my co-workers at the shelter have at least one of those. I can't, so must content myself with fosters. Bridget's been my favorite so far. I can only take a short-termer from now until mid-March because we leave March 15th for a long-deserved holiday.

(94,688 posts)And you'll be okay in a short time. I have been taking care of my neighbor's cats off and on and have become close with those three, mom and two daughters from a litter last easter. One was only there temporarily while her human was in a housing pinch, they third kitty went to her new home Friday. I'll miss her but the other two are fine after a day of figuring out they had more room, food, attention and less competition overall. And they will see each other again as the new home is just down the hill and is an extended family group there. They are a close family and the pets of several households are acquainted with each other.
It's interesting to observe, but also pretty cool.

(11,417 posts)a mom and two kittens, who were found on a construction site that is actually just a few miles from my house and brought in to the shelter. The kittens both developed upper respiratory infections. The mom was a small, very young lady who had a permanently cocked ear that made her look like a little French girl in a beret; we named her Nicolette in the stray jail. I suspect she was a teenage mother. The sister was also very sweet and may have found a home by now--last I heard she was about ready for adoption, as was Nicolette.
