Gardening in Oklahoma

I have lived in Oklahoma for over 12 years. Before that I thought of myself as a pretty good gardener, not a master but ok. Since we moved here, I have used raised beds with compost, maintain a compost pile for continuing to enrich the bad soil here to no avail. I have not had a decent tomato or green bean.

Does anyone have any tips for growing here? What am I doing wrong ?

3. Oh hey - sorry, I actually meant to get back to you earlier.

I forgot to mention a couple of other things.

Like I said, I'm not a garden guru, but my grandmother (83 years of awesome) is. She still raises a HUGE garden every year. She generally has the great-grandkids bring her a few truckloads of horse manure from my dad's place for the garden in the late fall. Also, she adds a little lime to the garden, also in the late fall, every several years for some reason.
