I put in my compost into my garden earlier this year and out pops this mystery squash.
any idea what it could be?

herbicide damage and look how i got it."

this one, however, is proving to be a quandary.

(36,900 posts)Certain varieties of squash will cross pollinate and create random shapes and colors. It probably won't be too good for eating, but it will likely dry to a hard shell so you might be able to make something out of it.

I think you are right. I'm now believing it's a cross pollination of a summer squash and zucchini.
