Winter is already feeling long!
Even with temperatures much milder than I expected up here in New England (thanks, global warming!), I am still getting a case of the doldrums-- probably exacerbated by not having a garden this summer due to the move.
Maybe a new houseplant is in order. Can anyone suggest an interesting one? Preferably one that doesn't need direct sunlight. All my windows are spoken for (or directly above a radiator and thus plant-unfriendly in the winter months.)
I'm also starting some paperwhites this week, so maybe that will help my itching green thumb.

THIS WINTER IS STRETCHING ON FOR FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! 
My paperwhites have come and gone. It's too early to start seedings. The temp hasn't risen above 20 for three days and it will remain below 20 for the next week at least. Haven't seen the sun in as long, and it's not expected to return for at least that same week.
Intellectually I know every dreary day gets us closer to spring, but psychologically it's killing me. Hope you're holding up better - though I know New England hasn't had a picnic of a winter this year, either. Keep the faith, beac. 
I can't bring myself to throw them out. That said, we do seem to have a lot of gorgeous sunny days here, despite the snow. And last night when I was taking the trash out, the ice crystals in the snow were glittering like diamonds. Not something we ever saw back in the South!
I do have to laugh when they trot out that poor groundhog every year. Six weeks more of winter is the basically guaranteed at that point no matter what. And yes, that is the ONLY time I have sympathy for a one of those little garden thieves. Plus Punxsutawney Phil is probably domesticated and never ate a seedling tomato plant in his life.
