Osmocote Slow Release Plant Food, Can you help?

I bought a 3 lb. container last year and do not remember if I could use it on Veggies., Nothing on the label or on the Web seems to answer my question. Anyone know if this is only for shrubs or can I use it in my Veggie Garden? Thanks,

According to the MSDS http://www.bemidjistate.edu/offices/environmental_health_safety/files/msds/Osmocote_Outdoor_Indoor_Plant_Food_18-6-12.pdf it gets pretty ugly if you burn it, and it isn't good for aluminum. Nor should you eat it, the ammonium nitrate can set off allergies.

Otherwise it looks pretty boring.

I usually grow salad greens, some root crops, hot peppers, and some other edible stuff in some of the containers, both because they are pretty and because its a good way to give them the conditions they want. Osmocote definitely does a good job. I would use it in the garden if it weren't so expensive.
