The last couple weeks we have been having storms here in Texas. Ive had a lot of tree limbs come down during this. All of them max 3 size. About 4 weeks ago I bought one of the Saker mini battery powered chainsaws. Caught it on sale. I dont know how durable it will be. But so far Im glad I bought it. I already had a couple gas chainsaws and a corded one. The mini has worked great so far. I have my second pile about 6x6 foot round and 3 foot high of cut branches. I can see myself cutting back my fig tree this winter with it. Its overdue already. But dont want to cut while it has figs on it. Plus not the best time anyways. Have hurricane season coming so I expect to be using it a lot.
For limbs to be picked up here it has to be cut into 3 pieces and bundled normally. After a hurricane the city will pick up if cut and by the road. I think with a little extra work I could cut 5 branches. But unless it was just a few cuts Id be better off using one of the gas or corded ones. Thing I also like about it is its one handed. I can hold the branch with my other hand. Yes, I keep my other hand away. Im oldish and have some nerve damage in my left hand so thats another reason for me to get one. It doesnt vibrate like my bigger ones. All it takes is making sure its charged, check chain tension and a little bar oil.
If youve thought about it Id say go for it.

(14,301 posts)It seems like it lacks the safety features of it's larger kin.

(28,449 posts)Almost everything else is with my 10" electric. have multiple chains and batteries so I get a lot done without the weight of the gas chainsaw.

(14,079 posts)NO tools needed to clean, adjust or even replace a chain.
The cover comes off with a big hand knob with a torque limiter on tightening, and the chain and guide loosen/tighten/come off and on with one hand knob.
I leave the Allen wrenches in the tool box.
Anything smaller, I use the big loppers. Fantastic for the biceps. The only gunshow I attend is the one I give.

(30,083 posts)a little battery powered one hand saw. I think I gave like 40 bucks for it on Amazon. It came with it's own case, two batteries, charger and an extra chain. I use that little battery saw a lot when feeding branches into my wood chipper.
