I have catmint volunteers

A couple of years ago, I planted Purrsian Blue catmint, which I like because it’s a neat plant that blooms all summer and also because cats don’t bother it like they do with catnip. This year it’s blessed me with a crop of volunteers. What I can’t get a straight answer for when I googled is, are Purrsian Blue volunteers from seed true, or will I wind up with some gangly mess of a plant? I’m never one to turn down free plants, but have also been disappointed by volunteers in the past.

1. This article from MO Botanical Garden said its supposed to be a sterile hybrid.

Nepeta × faassenii is a sterile hybrid (N. racemosa × N. nepetella) perennial catmint of horticultural origin (Dutch nursery of J. H. Faassen). It typically forms a spreading clump of decumbent, ascending and upright stems rising to 18-24” tall and spreading to as much as 36” wide. Gray-green leaves and lavender-blue flowers are highly aromatic.

Wonder if you have that exact hybrid or something related? Are they indeed seedlings and not from any underground runners? It's a really beautiful plant 😊

2. They are indeed seedlings, not runners

I transplanted some to the back 40, so we’ll see how they do.
