Gardening
Related: About this forumWe picked up seeds from our public library's seed catalog today.
We were able to request them online and ordered a dozen different garden seeds, all veg except for a packet of marigolds. Picked up the first three packages today, nine more to arrive yet.
Not sure how long they've been doing this, this is the first year I've seen the notifications.
We just have to make sure to let one plant of each go to seed so we can donate back to the catalog.
So we're getting excited for spring to arrive!

(22,767 posts)I only requested a few, but husband requested the bulk. I'll have to go through them all and see which are.

Thanks so much for mentioning the seed library. I didn't know about them. There are several less than an hour's drive from me, but none really close. I may look into borrowing some.
I usually don't start seeds inside, and I've never ordered seeds and rarely order anything on line, but this year I'm hoping to start a bunch early and wanted a few I'm not sure I could find locally. I ordered 2 varieties of cherry tomatoes, 2 varieties of cucumbers, and nasturtium. Also got 2 varieties of carrots, which I'll plant in ground. I often buy a few starter plants or trays from local places and plant shows, tomatoes, cucumbers, pepper plants, Basil plants, edible flowers, etc.
I do plant peas and beans in ground from seeds.
I've already planted some peas, and will plant more in the coming weeks.
I have an asparagus patch, and a strawberry patch, and blueberry bushes and blackberries.
Need to fertilize and airate soon. I'm in western NC, days trending warmer, but nights still freezing. Looking forward to spending more time outdoors in my garden.

(22,767 posts)but husband didn't, and he's the one who does all the gardening work. We have wild blackberries that grow in different spots around our property. It's always a race to get to them before the birds eat them all.
