Anyone here who is well versed in home insurance policies? Specifically, I have a specific rider on the policy for the foundation and I think I may have a significant crack starting in the foundation.

Panic is setting in. I’ll call the insurance company tomorrow but knowledge is power if anyone has knowledge to share and help me sleep tonight.

1. Perhaps get your own home inspector too, to look at too, to ensure that your insurance adjuster

won't willy nilly you w/ grossly inadequate estimates. It may be well worth the money out of pocket.

2. Document everything!

Every contact with the ins co. If a tel call, write a confirmation letter. NEVER TRUST THEM TO DO RIGHT BY YOU.

You may never need all you have documented, but better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I am sure all will be OK, but do protect yourself.

3. Ditto on your own separate inspector. You need to know all the options for fixing it too.

I would also have 3 reputable companies come out and estimate what needs to be done and how to do it.
