any wiring gurus can help me?

I live in an apartment with this intercom system:

So my problem is, whoever designed this intercom, maybe it was meant for a 50000 square foot warehouse or people that are almost deaf..... but the buzzer is TERRIFYINGLY loud. Every time someone hits it my cat runs under the bed and i'm honestly worried i'm going to have a heart attack someday.

There is no volume control so my question is.........

Is there a part I can wire in-line with the buzzer to act as a volume control? Similar to a dimmer switch on a light? I believe this is low voltage wiring so I' thinking a "dimmer" would vary the voltage and reduce the volume of the buzzer?

OR

Can I buy a different buzzer/chime and land the wires on that? Would 24V be the correct voltage for such a device?

If so, what is an effective way to land the wires? These look soldered, I don't have a soldering iron. ?Is there some cheap conductive adhesive of some sort i can just stick them on there with?

This is what Amazon shows as part of the "bought with" promotion. Note that there is a "signal volume" opening at the top right.I assume it adjusts volume at all speakers. Midway down is another volume control for voice which I assume only adjusts the apartment speaker. It probably takes a tiny screwdriver to adjust the volume. First chore is to find where in the system this is installed.

My best guess anyway . . .

Maybe you can get the apartment manager to make this adjustment as it affects the whole system and all apartments. Another option is to look at the lobby panel where all the call buttons are. There is sometimes a sticker on it that reveals the company that installed it with their phone number. You can try calling them directly. I've found they're very helpful, although they may want to talk to the manager first before making any adjustments.

If you unscrew the device from the wall (the two screws on either side of the speaker) you will see the modest innards. Fold up some paper and wedge it against the cone of the speaker, between the cone and frame of the speaker, to inhibit its movement. There are 4 "arms" there and you can try just cramming something in there under just one of them, or more. Be careful not to tear the cone.

A possible side effect will be a reduction of the volume when you're using the intercom function to talk to whoever is pushing the button. If that function becomes unusable, you can remove what you crammed in there. Good luck!

Notice the volume control on the amplifier? OK so, this is off the Jeron web page. You live in an apartment building so you have a apartment manager ,(1) you take your issues with the sound blasting to your manager . (2) Try contacting the Jeron help line contact number and explain the situation maybe get some some useful advice as to how to lower the volume without disrupting the building's intercom system. You will need the model and serial number of the unit so Jeron tec. reps. can assist you. Take that information to yer manager if there is something that can be done that works for the entire building. The other question is, are there other people in your building that find the problem as you see and experience it irritating .?Armed with enough information you will be prepared to address the issue with building management. The system is owned by the the owners of the building, so that means the job if it can be done should be done by building maintenance , it is the manager's responsibility to see to it the job is done accordingly.
