Related: About this forummini blinds....
I have a mini blind on large picture window that is raised and lowered a couple of times a day. One of the cords is getting frayed.
In another room, there is an identical window with a mini blind that is never raised/lowered. Always in the lowered position.
Can I switch the blinds one room to the other?
I know nothing about how they attach/detach from the frame at top.
Thanks in advance.

(25,109 posts)use tape measure from the outside of the box clip to the other
to remove, usually the front piece/panel of the box end slides
sideways towards
the middle
of the blind and there is sometimes small grooves set in the panel
to use to push the panel over
once the panel cover is removed, the blind itself comes out forward
you may want to retract the blind fully up first to make the transition easier from one to the other
good luck

(25,109 posts)it should slip right out,
and
as
noted
below there may be center supports
but measuring is important since as little as 1/8" or more will affect the fit from one to the other...
apologies for the formatting of my post ... i just updated my fone OS and the keyboard has a shorter space bar and the return bar is longer and my dumb thumbs haven't accustomed ... 👍🏻😜

(6,328 posts)If they are the same width, the odds are very good that you can swap the around. Most types of mini blinds snap into mounting brackets on the ends, sometimes with supports in the middle. If you are lucky, the swap would be easy. If not, ...
It is some work, but you can replace the fraying cord. A bit of a pain finding the correct part and doing the work. Alternately, you can buy a new mini blind assembly and replace whole assembly, not just the cords. More expensive, but a lot less work and aggravation.
