anyone have a suggestion? One with a fan that blows heat is out of the question.
Thanks in advance.

(122,890 posts)1. Try an oil-filled radiant heater.
Some examples here: http://www.homedepot.com/b/Heating-Venting-Cooling-Heaters-Space-Heaters-Electric-Heaters-Oil-filled-Radiant-Heaters/N-5yc1vZc8od
They are quite safe because there are no exposed heating elements. I've had one for years and it works very well.

(7,526 posts)2. I have 3 oil filled radiators, they work well.
My house is old and not insulated. I need to supplement the furnace heat with occasional use of these heaters.
They are very expensive to use. Your electric bill will go up a lot. For short time use, they do a good job. For extended use, I'd get one of the wall mounted energy efficient units at Home Depot or the like.
