Pumpernickel bagel. I put cream cheese in the mixer bowl and whipped it up myself. For that effort I saved $1.20.

Then I put lox on the cream cheese, some capers, and red onion slices. On the lox, I saved $2.71 by shopping at Aldi. I barely used half of it, so enough for another day.

I didn't save anything on the bagel because I bought it at King's, but they're one of the few stores that carry them.

Now, you might say, Cher, why are you telling us these prices? 'Cuz I'm listening to our local NPR, WNYC, right now and they have this guy on who sounds like a broadcaster from WWII. He sounds like Churchill! His name is John Cassidy and he's from The New Yorker. He's their economics writer and he's talking about the influence of inflation on the election.

Just my opinion, but things don't have to be expensive. Yes, I, too, shrink in horror at what they're charging at the grocery store but I find that with flexibility and the willingness to peruse the sale ads, groceries can still be quite affordable.

Dark Chinese tea.

on edit: cost of a Nova Lox is $11.99 if I decided to go out to Manhattan Bagel, down the street. Just checked, out of curiosity.
