Coffee too.
Likely bacon, potatoes and onions with an egg on top later to limit the sugar crash.
It feels very weird to be ofically an old person now.

(26,730 posts)I'd show up at your house if i could.
So how old are you exactly? I'm 75, and I find that there are many benefits to getting older.
Here's one. I live in New Mexico, a very Hispanic state where the older generation, especially the older women, are honored. And even though I'm not remotely Hispanic, I benefit from this. For instance, the rare times I have a traffic stop, the officer is invariably young enough to be my son or grandson, and I of course am always appropriately polite and never get a ticket. Apparently they are never about to give mom or grandma a ticket.
Several years ago I was pulled over for speeding. It was on a roadway here in NM, and I knew the speed limit went from about 25 to 55 mph a quarter of a mile down the road, and went to the higher speed too soon. Well. Blue and red lights in my rear view mirror. Darn. I pulled over, and when the officer got out of his car, he clearly wasn't that much younger than me. Uh, oh. Again, he's Hispanic, I'm so Anglo I may as well have a giant A tattooed on my forehead.
He looked at my license, noted that I lived in Santa Fe, we had a brief discussion about my speeding, and he let me go with a warning. Wow. Yes, it is always helpful to behave politely to a police person. I also explained to my sons when they were first driving that there were circumstances in which, no matter how well and politely they behaved, they were young males, and would get tickets where I wouldn't in identical conditions.

(34,296 posts)I was talking with my sister about the Sunday dinners of our childhood and I can remember the hiss & sizzle of Dad taking the roasting pan out of the.oven, Mom cubing potatoes to make buttered parsley potatoes. Then I have to think hard about what I had for dinner on Tuesday.
Memory is weird.

(26,730 posts)I can remember our Sunday dinners and they are similar to yours. I was one of six children, so dinners involved a rather large amount of food. And LOTS of potatoes, in no small part because we were Irish (all four of my grandparents came from Ireland) and so potatoes were a very basic part of our diet.
These days I live alone, have a very small appetite, and try very hard not to waste food. Sadly, I don't always succeed but I do try to do my best.

(4,350 posts)Since we'll be out late on Saturday night (hubby's birthday), figure I'll tell you now (gryn). There's a special little wine and cheese bar that's cozy and dark with the perfect ambiance. I think that's where we'll go to celebrate. Midnight on our birthdays are pretty special around here... neither his bday nor mine, yet both... time out of time! lol
I'll be turning 68 this year. Trying to let it get me down too much... hubs is gonna be 72.

(136,186 posts)Son in law told me he likes Sunday Brunch Bar @ nearby riverfront spot, so I suggested we celebrate there, young kids, daughter and s-i-l; we don't get to do such often enough.
Happy Early Birthday to you, too, slightly! (I'll be 'plenty 9,' as suggested by a DUer, whose mother 'created' that approach!)
