An information request

I will be having my gallbladder removed soon. This means that I will need to watch my fat intake as a percentage of by overall diet. So sauted pigskin in a lard sauce is out..

Does anyone have some suggestions on places to look for low fat recipes? Doesn't have to be no fat but below 3-5% of the serving size at least until I find out where my stability point will end up.

I love fatty things. have to watch more for overall calories than digestive issues. everyone is different but my experience was the only thing different in my life after surgery was no more gall bladder attacks.

lower fat recipes are everywhere. sub broth for saute, just use less fat when cooking, and some baking you can use applesauce, but see how it goes after a few months healing up. you might not have to change anything.

I have been warned about excess fat. My mother had hers out a long time ago and she didn't seem to have any complaints or she just didn't bother.
My wife can't have applesauce. Too much fuctose for her intolerance.

I would advise looking for some at the local thrift shops, Goodwill, or Salvation Army stores, because I always find a few there.

Reading the German isn't a problem. After 8 years here I am pretty good at recipe German. As long as it isn't printed in teh old gothic blackletter type.

I like sheet pan recipes. Or Blech Rezepts as one of my little German books calls them.

had mine removed years ago and have felt no repercussions; must say, I essentially ignore/forget about it! Have ice cream most'many days/nights!
