(7,080 posts)I buy a corned beef (raw) and boil several hours with the spice packet in the water. Then put it in the fridge overnight. I save the water I boiled it in and cook potatoes, carrots, onion the next day. Trim the fat off the meat when it is cold from the fridge. Slice the meat while its cold because it slices better that way. I am Irish ☘️ so always make it for St. Patricks Day. Have a fun Sunday Dunc. Kiss the dog for me

(4,873 posts)the miracle ingredient that sweetens every soup and stew.
When my grandfather was a little boy, the rule was that if you had dinner at somebody else's house, you must finish everything on the plate, no matter whether you liked it or not.
As a boy, my grandad hated cabbage, so when it was served at his aunt's house he decided he'd eat all of it that was on his plate just to get it over with.
His aunt noticed and piled a triple helping on his plate, saying "My my my that boy does love cabbage!"
