Sheet pan dinner: flounder and vegetables which I tossed in olive oil and herbs (cilantro, parsley, oregano, thyme). I covered the fish with basil pesto. Asparagus, garlic, carrots, shishito peppers, sweet peppers, onion.
Roasting in a convection oven.
Dessert: cherries with tapioca pudding, tea. Half a shortbread cookie.

(36,333 posts)It's a lovely summer day here in Phoenix's west valley, just 90F at 2:00 PM. I think it's about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday.

(22,767 posts)We didn't get take out the other night, so tonight we're going to have pizza!
Pepperoni, Italian sausage, Genoa salami, mozzarella and provolone cheeses, balsamic glaze, parmesan herb shake and olive oil and garlic glaze on the crust. Light red sauce, baked well done.

homemade scalloped potatoes
sauteed zucchini
Al made a dessert involving sugar-free jello, pineapple bits, and Cool-Whip. It's not bad (despite the fact that I don't care for Cool-Whip)

(69,898 posts)I usually use parsnips but the store was out of them, so I used rutabaga.
My wife doesn't care for crayfish, so I used shrimp, but I always do that.
I added both bacon & andouille. The bacon, maple cured, added a nice extra element.
Made a pretty big batch, so we'll be eating gumbo tomorrow, too.

(510 posts)I might 'Suiza' them up with a little sour cream.
And the Tonys. Once the plates are cleared, I have a sock to work on. (If I just sit, I fall asleep and I'll be damned if I'm going to sleep through the Tonys.)

(1,457 posts)We hit the local farmers market this morning. Sautéing kohlrabi with cabbage and spring onion in rendered fat (doesnt that sound better than bacon grease 😂 . White half runners are cooking away, southern style, and well have cornbread (in the cast iron skillet, of course!) and small, ripe, local tomatoes. We will have some variation of this meal for the next 10-12 weeks 🥰

(22,887 posts)Fresh crab meat combined with mashed potato, crumbled butter crackers, chopped celery, chopped onion, whisked eggs and seasoned with Old Bay, lemon juice, soy sauce (we dont have Worcestershire sauce onboard), salt and pepper. The cakes are pan frying right now. Were going to have 8!
Corn and a green salad to round out the meal.
Cookies and the Tony Awards for dessert. Im rooting for New York, New York.

(10,890 posts)Persian meat patties, this batch made with ground beef because that's what I happened to grab from the freezer. They include grated onion and partially cooked potato as well as a spice mix of turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and pepper, and are fried in oil. You get 16 to a pound of meat and can make them with beef, lamb, turkey, or chicken, serve them hot, warm, or room temp. Served up in pita pockets with sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, a dollop of yogurt, and fresh parsley and basil leaves. YUM! Apparently these things have made their way to Russia and eastern Europe where they are known as kotleti, probably spiced and served differently.
Dessert of choice, probably ice cream of some kind for me.

(37,893 posts)Saved your post. I love that type of meal--with the yogurt, patty, pita. Yum. I think I'll try it with lamb.

(10,654 posts)Save the water I re-hydrated yesterday's mushrooms in and used that to cook some brown rice (I find I prefer the nutty, chewy texture of brown rice over white for these), sauteed the leftover hamburger meat from Friday with some onions, mixed the lot together with some canned crushed tomatoes, and stuffed the result into some green bell peppers. Still waiting for it to finish cooking.

Their food is so pretty and fresh. Love it .
I had Ting Tung chicken. It's my favorite because it has the highest amount of vegetables.
