Chicken-vegetable stir fried rice. I put in for veggies: red and green pepper, a little carrot, green onions which were fresh from the garden, mushrooms (just a few), and scrambled egg. Broccoli and roasted garlic. Fresh ginger. I used frozen rice from the store because I didn't feel like cooking it in advance. And you know you can't use freshly cooked rice for stir fry.
I am serving with this plum sauce and chopped cilantro-lime seasoned cashews on top.
Dessert will be carrot cake and tea.
and p.s. I made enough to give away some to friends plus an extra serving or two in the 'fridge.

Thanks, MissMillie. I thought it was a combination and I couldn't imagine it.
Enjoy your evening.

(39,654 posts)it will probably have some finely diced aromatics in it (onions, red bell pepper, carrots). I call that "confetti rice" and I make it often--using rice. lol

(25,049 posts)Simple, stupid and filling.
Grilled all-beef hot dogs in long buns with chopped onions, grated cheddar cheese, ketchup, brown mustard and sauerkraut on the side.
B&M baked beans.
Spinach salad to balance the hot dogs.
Steve Martin once did a joke about hot dogs. The first minute is about McDonalds but then he focuses on the hot dog:

(39,654 posts)We didn't have them often, as my Dad had a great recipe for homemade.
Once I learned how to make homemade, I never bought canned again.
They're easy to make, cheap to make, and I absolutely LOVE the way the house smells when they're baking. I've often said that Yankee Candle should make a baked-bean scented candle.
They even freeze well.

Here we have chicken, with kale, rice , carrots, asparagus, snow peas.
My pizza is in the final stages of testing cheeses.
Yesterday was mozzarella, parmesan, asiago. This was very close to authentic. 1965 authentic, from what I remember.
Soon the next few tests will take place. The results will surprise I think, because I've already tested and eliminated several store mixed formulas, and sampled the finalists. But no proof until pizza! Asiago's are variable. Some salty, some creamy and smokey, some sweet. Why buy asiago when you can use smoked provolone? Genuine parmagiana reggiano - no go. Old cheese, no flavor. Scamorza? $25 a pound. I doubt they put that on pizza.

(25,049 posts)Hop Kee is one of those Chinese restaurants that's a half-flight of stairs below the street, has metal tables and chairs and is lit by garish florescent lights. It's also one of those places that has fantastic food, great friendly service and very reasonable prices.
We've been able to call in our order, drive by and pick up on the street and head for home for dinner.
It will be cathartic when we can resume our normal lives but I'm not holding my breath-- for the time being.

(7,309 posts)With ground pork, fresh ginger, garlic, and I use broccoli slaw instead of cabbage. And a homemade dipping sauce. We usually have so many left over that I freeze some and reheat them in the air fryer later in the week.

(7,309 posts)My wife won't eat many leftovers and I have a problem cooking for just 2. So many things are pre-packed for a family of 4. I made swedish meatballs the other night and froze 3 large portions. Keeps me from having to cook a lot.
