Ancestry/Genealogy
Related: About this forumQuestion on Ancestry.com - help!
I had a full subscription (access to European records, etc) for about a year and built a pretty good tree. Then my consulting contract ended and I had to stop my subscription to Ancestry.
I guess I felt that I would be able to find the tree I built, but it seems to be able to locate it, I need some sort of subscription - is this right? If I sign up again, will I be able to find the info I generated - or was it scrubbed?
thanks for any help on this.

(34,189 posts)I was looking to see if your Wheelers connected to the ones in my tree but they are all in Massachusetts while mine are all in Stonington, Connecticut or close to there.
I've been working on my lines so I am on Ancestry for hours every day.

(60,501 posts)we knew very little about my grandfather's mom. I am also stuck a bit on my paternal grandmother's family. There are so many spellings and misspellings, it goes in/out of Canada, and the lost census (1890) would really be helpful to me....
Thanks so much - greatly relieved! I guess I can sign up for the bare bones plan to view it - then if the $$ improves, upgrade.

(34,189 posts)I originally called to get a limited time membership. To do that, you specify the end date at the same time you enroll. When it was about to run out, I called because I was having trouble with their online pages and they offered me a really nice deal WITH an upgrade to World for nothing.
If you just go online, you'll not be able to try to make a deal. In your case, call to ask about just getting your tree downloaded. Then you can reluctantly agree to a deal, but stay balky and they will drop the price.
By the way, I can't download your tree as a Gedcom. I guess only the tree owner can. If need be, I could keep adding members to a tree of mine until I got the whole thing, then I could download my tree as a Gedcom.

(4,736 posts)All the work you did, if you attached records and photos and such during your full subscription period, should all be intact. You just won't be able to add many records. You can still add 1880 US Federal Census, and maybe a couple of others. Further, those records that are attached to the tree you will be able to still pull up and see the original records! You can also still add people and info to the tree.
Watch for periods when some of the collections come up for free for a few days. They will maybe have a "celebrate Armistice Day" for instance and some of the military collections will be free for a while. So watch for those!

(51,666 posts)nor can I click through and see the documents I linked to my tree in prior searches.
I rejoin when I want to do active research, and then let it lapse for a while. I do genealogy intermittently.
