Pro-Choice
Related: About this forumI wish these "pro lifers"
Would stop their idiotic yammering about UNBORN life and show some concern for life that's ALREADY HERE!
An example...... In my state, the infant mortality rate is abysmal. In some cities like Youngstown and Cleveland, infants die within their first year of life at the same rate as third world countries! Talk about an utterly shameful statistic!
Poorer moms and babies don't do well because they for the most part don't have access to prenatal care and newborn care or they simply cannot afford it. Pilot programs in other states have shown marked improvements in mom/baby quality of life when proper medical care is provided and a visiting nurse sent to the home for the entire first year of life to check up on the new moms and kids. (But, of course they ALWAYS run out of money) .....Why don't these bloomin idiots rally in Washington to support access to doctors and hospitals for low income moms and babies? I thought they wanted to save lives??? We always seem to have money for the military and to give rich people even more money, yet this issue goes on and on with very little concern.
When they yammer on about "Abortion stops a beating heart!" .... doesn't poor or no medical care do the same thing???

(6,689 posts)They live in a fact free world, intentionally. Abortion, gun control, climate change, taxes, our "Christian nation".
Glad you put "pro-lifers" in quotes. Total misnomer; they are anti choice. They refer to pro-choicers as "pro-abortion" which is also BS. Never met anyone, or heard of anyone who was "pro-abortion".

(2,577 posts)I frequently bring up Ohio's unacceptable infant mortality rates among "Christians," and the response is always *crickets.*
We have a zip code here in Akron with a very high infant mortality rate. State Rep. Emilia Sykes has been working hard to turn things around, but I don't know how much support she is getting in Columbus. One would think all those who love life so much would be behind her all the way ...
Here's a link to the legislation she proposed last year: http://www.ohiohouse.gov/emilia-strong-sykes/press/sykes-introduces-bill-to-reduce-ohios-infant-mortality-rate

I wish Rep. Sykes the best of luck, sadly, these poor folks don't donate to Republican politicians so who knows if those idiots in Columbus will even care. Bless Ms. Sykes for being their advocate.
The Plain Dealer did a series on this issue some time ago. I had to stop looking at the comments after the articles, they were so full of hate, it made me sick. Such caring Christians. How can you hate a poor child?

(2,577 posts)But I keep away from comments in the PD for that reason. It seems that most posting are angry and hate-filled. (And many can't spell worth a darn either.)

(6,913 posts)For instance, they oppose school lunches. Instead of feeding kids, we should put their parents in jail! Its disturbing to hear them.
Another thing: if they really opposed abortion they would support free birth control pills, devices, medical care for everyone who wants them.

(34,903 posts)You'd think they would be expanding PP, not wiping it out!
Putting parents in jail for delinquent school lunch account? Good God, who thought that one up?

(710 posts)When it comes to pro-baby selling. The "pro life" faction is only pro-life IF mega bucks exchange hands - $50K, $60K or more for that short-in-supply caucasian baby. The very same baby that deserves nothing if his/her mother decides to keep the baby.
