If you don't mind sharing, what kind of problems did/do you have?
My teeth seem to be more sensitive to cold since I got sick. I went to the dentist today and he said everything looks good to him. There was a slight discoloration on one of my teeth so he bonded it and it's back to normal.
I'm just curious if this is something that might be related to HIV or if this is a normal part of aging.

(22,057 posts)sensitivity in the last few years. Sensodyne toothpaste has a new product that supposedly helps repair damage to sensitive teeth. I've used it for about a month and think it makes a difference. Best of luck.

(55,815 posts)But when I was really sick with pcp pneumonia and a cd4 count of 3, I was getting sores in my mouth to where I couldn't brush my teeth because of the pain and it went down hill from there (not eating so no vitamins just to name one)
When I was well enough to start brushing my teeth again the damage had been done, the enamel on my teeth was gone and it hut with anything sweet, cold or hot.
Not sure how your heath is but I would suggest seeing a dentist immediately for a treatment plan. For me it was to late.
I was one of the lucky one's, I had money to deal with the problem. Having surgery to have all my teeth removed and implants put in to replace my teeth was the route I took but at about $25,000.00, that wasn't a good option.

(4,243 posts)My teeth didn't really suffer a whole lot except for a little bit of discoloration on my front tooth. I'm wondering if the medication caused that? Anyway, after filing it down and bonding it I can't even tell there was anything wrong with it. The sensitivity has mostly started in the last couple of years. I'll make sure to let the dentist know if it gets worse. He says for now he doesn't see a problem so that's a good thing.
I've heard of HIV+ people having more dental problems than those who aren't HIV+ so I guess that's why I'm wondering.

(1 post)Dental calling has attempted to determine the issue of discolouration; tar composite, covers and complete crowns were seen as the answers for restore stained teeth. Night Guard Whitening is a preservationist and safe system to lessen seat side time and to minimize gingival and pulpal responses regularly connected with the in-office brightening.
