I'm suffering with depression
But loads of anxiety. Last two days non stop sinus drainage and tried Claritin that didn't help much.
Any suggestions?
I take trazadone and have Xanax for anxiety and this week I had to take it feel less panic.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm ever gonna be all right. I've had Covid twice.

(15,689 posts)Anxiety, depression, and panic attacks since Christmas. First time in my life at 71.
It's been one day at a time and although I'm still very fragile, I'm a little better. Backed away from politics somewhat and keep myself busy. Walking the dog and cleaning.
I wish you the best and healing.

(4,981 posts)I'm repeating Fisetin because it makes the body more resilient in every way. I also like collagen and curcumin extract for movement, and joint pain. When one is older/immuno compromised, all the little aches and pains add up. Herbal tea/more fluids. We are definitely in stressful times. I was out gardening today and the bees were my solace. I hope you get some relief!

(12,065 posts)All of you as I feel ok posting how O really feel.
When I cry I feel relief.
I go to bed an wake with acid reflux some even though I take meds for it.
Another close friend from DU is sick in the hospital.
He does dialysis three days a week. He's in the hospital now with a fib and the beginning of pneumonia. I've known him probably 25 years of my life and he's pretty sick and he never listens to a thing I say.
I just wish the election was over with. That's one less thing I would have to worry about every single night and every single day I wake up and that fat slob is still conning and trying to find a way to be president. I don't think I can live through another presidency with him. I worried myself sick when Covid came out. At age 20 I had Guillain barre syndrome I knew what it was like to be on a vent.
I still don't go around large crowds. I've had all my vaccinations but I've had Covid twice. I'm 66 years old and I don't feel like my immune system is that great I can't get the flu shot I can't get the RSV shot. I can't get the pneumonia shot, I do take vitamins to try to keep to myself I got a Trumper Neighbor on both sides of me.
I just feel so all alone and isolated at times.

(4,981 posts)Any chance of moving? I wake up each day and see if the head maggot expired. Sometimes I check 3 times a day. It's one thing for that fucker to run, but the constant barrage from a disinfo psyop war being played on us, along with all the hate, is another layer of sewage we are subjected to. You do what you can and rest when you need to. Your mental health is crucial to the cause, so give yourself lots of hugs and love. You are definitely not alone.
I have MS and CFS and a prior brain stem injury from an accident. I did the Fisetin protocol and still do it monthly. It's an antioxidant that kills senescent cells-the damaged ones that can cause inflammation, cancer, etc.. I probably sound like an Amway salesperson, but for many it works. Especially for older women. Enough about Fisetin, I promise. Hope you get some joy from this day.

(34,278 posts)I use Xyzal (works better for me that other OTC's - the last thing that worked really well was Seldane but then they stopped selling it), and Nasacort nasal spray. Tree and grass pollen has been really bad in our area so I can completely empathize with that.
As far as depression and anxiety, I've probably been better since I started taking the Beta Blocker ten years ago. Prior to that I mostly managed it with exercise. I was a distance runner and that seemed to work in terms of tiring out my brain. I agree with other posters about taking things one day at a time. Things can be overwhelming, especially with the overall stress in the world right now.

(12,065 posts)Enough to keep myself stronger I guess. I do try to walk on my treadmill three days a week today I couldn't do it I got on and I was only on 10 minutes and got off. Sometimes my brain just is not functioning when I feel like I'm stressed out, I sleep about five hours a night that's it then I'm up for a couple of hours and if I'm lucky I fall back asleep for another couple but not always do I sleep that doesn't help right now I'm awake because my throat is scratchy and I can't get rid of the sinus drainage. It seems like no matter what I take . It was Claritin. Thanks for replying. I could use some friends right now. I do have one good friend here and she checks in on me. I try to paint a lot and just keep my mind out of where it don't need to be I do my cleaning and then I sit in my office With my cat and paint

(34,278 posts)we've had dogs the past 20+ years and they always keep me busy. Especially now that I have arthritis and can't do the runs. Instead, I walk with them. I lost 2 seniors recently, but still have a 5-year old dog that I walk with twice daily! The fresh air helps, and I'm with you on the news - I only look at online sources. I can't deal with the 24/7 craziness of tv news!

(12,065 posts)It made me realize how much I miss the outside. My neighbors across the street from me are both good people and Democrats. I told her how sad I felt that my neighbor on the right of me tried to trick me and told me to come to my window so that I could see her dog, and then started to gaslight me about how no good Joe Biden was and Illegal, immigrant everything else. I let her have it.
One side of the backyard will be soon shrubs all the way down from my patio all the way back to the end of my property stop so I won't have to look at the Trump or Neighbor. I can't imagine him winning and having a look at either one of these neighbors on each side of me. But my neighbors across the street they both told me how much they miss me. I can't wait for spring. I have lots of flowers and a garden to take care of. I can't wait till it's warm enough every day to be outside. The news is depressing and I feel like Trump will find a way one way or another to cheat this election, it's really sad. I have two siblings older than me I'm 66 and neither one of them speak to me over Donald Trump. It's very disheartening my brother has more money than God.
Live in Vegas and saw 4 doctors who said the sinus drainage is NON allergenic rhinitis . No allergies to any obvious tests but one gal in a store said it is the dryness here in Vegas. She suggested Flonase but it can slightly affect your eye pressure. Some nights it is so hard to go to sleep. Let me know if you find a solution !

(12,065 posts)I coughed and coughed and coughed until I finally fell asleep now it's 445 and I'm awake again I took a Claritin-D that seems to slow it down. I can still feel the trickle going down my throat, but it slows it down some.
I might try an air purifier and see if that helps. So lucky to have all the people in you. At least you don't feel so alone everybody wants to help.
Sometimes crying is my only solution

(823 posts)I have had to deal with these too. Doctors are generally good at figuring out sinus issues, which can be allergy, bacterial infection, or cold virus. They have effective treatments for these. For anxiety attacks, I have had to give up all caffeine, even decaf, sometimes. Sometimes the mental exercise where you anchor yourself (to what is actually around you, the sounds, tastes, what you can see) works, sometimes not. This month I binge-watched The Good Place, which is not a great 'activity' but it helped and it beats more harmful coping 'strategies'. For depression, I am lucky that medication lightens it. Most advice people offer works for bad moods but I have found the recommended actions to be ineffective for combating depression. So, like Dory in Finding Nemo, I just keep swimming, that is, rolling out of bed and following some kind of simple daily routine. I wish you well. Take care of yourself, Samplegirl. And, BTW, your artwork does lift my spirits; thank you for that.

(12,065 posts)I need something to turn off my worry button. And then when I get sick, it just is another added thing to make me worry I try to eat healthy or usually get up and have avocado, toast, walnuts, yogurt with blueberries or oatmeal.
I've just got a really bad bout of this sinus drainage that chokes me and that gives me panic. Having Donald Trump as a president really isolated me for a long time I had just retired from my job when Covid hit I stay off of news if I want news, I come in the DU and read it and get out, I have a few good friends here check in on me I read other people in here. They struggle too. I was working a lot for my headquarters but where I live in Northeast Ohio everything is so corrupt we didn't have even one Democrat running for county commissioner northeast Ohio is Trump city I might as well be living in Florida , so depressing. Thanks for checking in. There are some super super good people in DU. I'm grateful.
