Remember that this is no longer a new, experimental surgery. Thousands of these have been done, and with great outcomes.

Also, your husband is a candidate! That means that his doctor believes that he can get through this and do well.

Is there a support group available? It always helps to talk to folks who've been there.

Best of luck to you both.

about 8 years ago. The day before we found out that about 4 inches of his aorta needed to be grafted as well. He did really well. The only problem was a lot of short bouts of A fib that went away fairly soon and needing a revision of the scar a few years later that did not heal well.

I hope you have similar or even better results. It is scary sitting in that waiting room. Bring things that will bring you joy, a loved book or podcasts or music.

invasive than it used to be. Ask his doctor how many valve replacements he /she has done. It will probably make you feel much better to know how experienced the surgeon is. Wishing you and your husband the best!
