8 years ago I had a spinal fusion L5S1.

For the past few months, I am once again dealing with sciatica on the right side. It is miserable, I can't walk a long distance, I cannot sit for a long time or I have terrible pain. I am terrified I will need another fusion. The last one cost us over $10,000 out of pocket and 12 weeks out of work.

Have any of you had more than one fusion?

I need to have one L4L5 but keep putting it off because my doctor told me chances are good once I have it I’ll have to have others because it will pull on vertebra above and below the fusion although he didn’t give me a time frame. I’ve heard it’s a very hard surgery so I dread it like crazy. Was yours really bad and hard to recover from?

I was the poster child for back fusion. It is just the past few months I have been suffering again. They told me the same thing, that I may at some time need another fusion, but I would do it again, I had 7 good years that I would not have had.

I hope if you have to go through it again that it goes just as well or even better!

My Dr. was in Oklahoma City, his name was Robert Wenike he was at the Spine Hospital across from Mercy Hospital. Feel free to send me a private message. It helps to have someone who has been through this.
