Has anyone here had a fecal transplant for constipation? I'm considering trying it.

Yes, folks, I'm still suffering from chronic constipation. I'm retired now, and Mr Nay and I want to do some traveling; unfortunately, constipation makes traveling a real pain. I have recently heard about fecal transplantation being helpful for IBS/C. difficile infections/diarrhea, and some people have said it even helps with chronic constipation.

Anyone have any stories about results? Thanks.

one or the the other doesn't help me stay regular, but for some reason if I eat both (usually in bread) I can keep things moving...

Googling shows the transplant is helpful for some. There don't seem to be any risks to the procedure. It might be worth it. (have you had your poo tested? that can tell you if your good bacteria is low.)

No experience with this myself. I know people who've said they've had good success with magnesium supplements, and with acidophilus pills.

Good luck with whatever you do!

2 to 4 caps 200mg before you go to bed and your problems will be over. It has worked for all my friends.

It's a supplement that restores the healthy bacteria in your gut. It works much better than acidophillis. I used it when I had chronic diarrhea after taking antibiotics for 2 weeks. You can buy it at Walgreens or most any large drug store. You can also take magnesium oxide supplements. The magnesium doesn't absorb well so it pulls water into your gut. A person with regular BM's has to be careful not to take too much because it will cause loose stools.

Supplements with "bifido" bacteria are good as well. They're certainly worth trying before getting a fecal transplant.
