I think a new condition is coming about

Last month when I went to the doctor he decided I needed my diabetic foot exam. We noticed my right leg was bigger than my left leg. Off I went for an ultrasound to make sure I didn't have a blood clot. I didn't. Whew

Last week we started wondering if maybe I had some nerve damage. I have severe neuropathy and the thought was maybe the right leg was fine and I am losing muscle mass in the left. I was told if there was any pain I needed to get back in.

Last night I had muscle spasms but I was not to worried about it. The dogs and I did our three mile walk this morning. Then tonight I have bruises on my right leg but nothing hurts. I guess I will have to call Monday if it isn't better.

The bruises are gone so I think if I keep going this way I will wait till after Christmas although I will let the doctor know what happened.

That's a head scratcher. Let your doctors nurse if things get worse or change. It doesn't mean that you have to go in, but it keeps them in the loop and they can advise you if you need immediate intervention.

Good luck and merry christmas / happy holidays etc..

One thing I did that turned out to be VERY smart was to take pictures of my leg(s) when stuff like that happened. I get lots of edema in my calves & feet due to chronic renal failure. Every time my nephrologist sees me, the edema isn't too bad -- I always have morning appointments. And my leg(s) would sometimes be HUGE by bedtime, so I started whipping out my camera to show him. It changed my treatment! It sounds like that might be a good idea when you get visible signs, like the bruising.

Doesn't neuropathy, by definition, reflect nerve damage? Yeah, with diabetes, I wouldn't hesitate to call -- nipping things in the bud can avoid some really serious complications of diabetes. Since I'm late getting here, any word on how you're doing now?

I see the doctor after New Years. It has stopped hurting and although I still either have swelling or the other one has lost some muscle I am moving. My daughter is home for the holidays and I haven't been to so many stores in a long time. I also force myself to change sleeping positions. I am almost back up to my five mile walk days. Two long walks daily. The dogs love it.
